I was about to point out that whole narcolepsy connection with the sleep paralysis thing, but you beat me to it! Here i was going to feel all smart! *pout* You covered about everything intelligent I would have to say about sleeping and paralysis. You can tell you've been through the ringer of sleep problem diagnosis
I have a sleeping disorder, it's ideopathic hypersomnia. So I have to take medication to stay awake and alert for a whole day. Luckily it's pretty effective on mine, even though my doctor still can not believe that I've been capable of having a full time job, doing full load of school, having a relationship and volunteer on the side. All those things aren't around anymore besides school Wow, I'm really unproductive now.
I'm not supposed to drink on my meds (yeah, we see how well that works, but I never try to do anything important like drive after even one drink because of it) but some people even on meds still can't function in normal ways like being able to live alone, because they'll fall asleep with the oven on and start a fire, or in the middle of driving or in the shower. So I guess I have it pretty good. I'm too stubborn to let it drag me too far down, at least thats what he tells me _________________ FuturePeter is my make believe boyfriend.

Well, hubby crapped out on me......so it's us, my envelopes, and the informercials!
I've never been to a doctor....I just drink some wine and take my sleepy-time gel tabs. I couldn't take them tonight though because of all my work.
Trainer.....what's behind the name? It's probably here somewhere but I have that "laziness" issue. _________________ LG15 needs more COWBELL!

Eh, the problem with my sleep issue is that I have a wierd internal clock problem, where I tend to have to fall asleep before 11 or 12 or I'm up for hours with boundless energy. So right now I'm mentally exhausted, and would like few things more than sleep, but my body is almost buzzing it's so awake. It's kind of wierd to have hypersomnia mixed with insomnia *shrug* though my mom has the same thing, except her awake time is in the morning, which is FAR more functional. But both of ours only lasts about 4 hours, which is the only time where I feel really alert without meds.
And thanks Ennovi! It took a few years, and several different medications, but I'm good now. I won't say I have never used it as an excuse to get out of things like early morning classes or anything *shifty eyes* _________________ FuturePeter is my make believe boyfriend.

Hmmm... so what time zone are you in? 'Cause I'm guessing you're a little behind schedule with that sleep thing. _________________ It's STILL all connected... |

I'm usually super awake at night but have trouble functioning during the day because I just can't concentrate. The sleep paralysis only comes on when I fail to go to sleep early... like right now.. it's almost 2.00 AM!!!
I'm glad you are better now! *hugs* |
