Look, I see Gemma and Lucy together! What does Lucy do for the order? She preps ceremony participants!

The order knows Tachyon is spying. They are using her to offhandedly tell everyone that if Bree continues to refuse to take her role in the ceremony, there are alternatives. Like Bree's old friend, Gemma.

Its a possibility. Either that, or Gemma has traveled here to the US to help Lucy find Bree.

Sorry, but I seriously doubt that. Just because Lucy was helping her "prepare" doesn't mean she's doing that with Gemma. As far as we know, Lucy has alwasy been a watcher and her role in helping out Bree was a way to keep VERY close tabs on her. Gemma is probably too old for whatever the ceremony is. I find this very unlikely. Not just any girl will do for this ceremony...and if Gemma was one who was a prospect, she would be the right age and such. She's not. I would venture more of a guess that Gemma is like Lucy or at least training to be.

I agree that she is not going to be doing the ceremony. I'm not sure if she's a "Lucy in Training" as much as she was supposed to be a "Lure Bree Homer".

And I LOVE the Elaine avvie!!

I think it's been mentioned several times that you have to be a 'Chosen One' to participate in the ceremony. Gemma has already stated that she was not chosen. It seems unlikely to me that she's all of a sudden the last minute stand in.
Bree has also stated that she does not know why she was chosen (refer to "Bree Chat") leading to speculation that it has something to do with her heritage or genetics.

Exactly, her haritage and genetics. Remeber Gemma talking about how respected Brees parents were/are? Obviously it was because they were intelligencia types, but maybe also becasue they had a particular lineage or heirarchal position which granted them special privelages, etc.
We need to consolidate what we know about Brees parents!
Remeber, they were last seen WITH LUCY.
Do we know what exactly was in the note?
Also, we might want to think of compiling EVERYTHING we know about Bree herself. Obviusly she is the key, so we need to start hacking the details. Do we have a last name? A birthday? The significance of details has been huge so far, and really, we dont know a whole hell of a lot about this girl.

Another point against the idea that Gemma's going to be taking part in the ceremony is that there's no reason the Order would have gone to such lengths to get specifically Bree if just any girl would do. If Gemma was all they needed, the danger for Bree and Daniel would be over right now.

Forgetting: they said there was no time to prepair someone else. It HAD to be Bree.

Though wiether she is still elegable (she's not taken any shots or pills since she left home, and we haven't seen any of the goofy exercizes or language practice) is dubious at this point.

But if she wasn't elegable, then she'd be of no use to the order and they'd leave her alone.

I'm glad Gemma is the wolf in sheeps clothing. I did not see that one comming, I assumed she was just pointless and inarticulate. Explains a lot about why her "help" was never really very helpful.

i was going to agree wholeheartedly, then i thought about the concept that just knowing about some of the super-secret stuff was enough to cause you problems. people whose whole lives are dedicated to keeping this stuff secret. the family (weird letters from them) gemma talked about seemed to have something to worry about. so, while i don't think gemma is a replacement, the danger for bree and d will always be there, like leaving the mafia.

Very good point they would quit wasting their time trying to trap Bree if they could just use her. It is disturbing though that Gemma is with Lucy. What does this all mean? Has Gemma finally been captured by the Order or has she been with them all along in some fashion? Is there a remote possiblity that since Lucy has been around where Bree's parents are that she might have revealed to Gemma where they are? Lucy may be on Bree's side for all we know and Gemma could actually be relaying information from Lucy to Bree in some way. hmm... a lot to ponder over for sure.

If they were trying to trap Bree, they could have done it by now. They have, after all, been following her. Daniel's left her alone a few times. If they wanted to, they could just nab her.

No, they let her run off. For some reason.

There is no way that Gemma could perform the ceremony.

Its not something anyone can do.

Although it would be interesting and would make these comments by Gemma make more sense if Gemma was 2nd on the list:

"Even though I wasn't picked for the ceremony like you were.."
^ounce of jealousy?

"when it happened and she was like you... ah... chosen to do the ceremony at a young age."
^saying Bree is too young to do the ceremony, insinuating that she isn't?

I still think that Gemma is being forced into the service of the Order. I find it suspicious that one day she is so scared that she won't go home for fear that she is being watched, and the next day she plays the whole thing off, like she was just being silly. Thoughts?

I think her 'being watched' thing was a failed attempt to get Bree scared and to listen to her.
