The Shadows are members of the Order who serve as bodyguards for the Elders. They're physically augmented by a variety of pharmaceuticals; modafinil, anabolic steroids, amphetamines. They don't need to sleep and they're stronger and faster than the average person. Because of this most do not live past the age of 30. Shadow members can be distinguished from other people by the omicron tattoo on their forearm. In the center of the omicron lies an upside down tau. They were first mentioned by Alex in Proceed with Caution.
