On June 19, 2007, it was announced that Neutrogena and lonelygirl15 had struck an innovative promotional deal. A new character would be written into the script as an employee of Neutrogena. This deal was reached after CAA approached Neutrogena to propose a tie-in between their cosmetic products and the show.
