Charlie: Hey, guys. I made it through the weekend...just. The Cadbury Creme Egg thingy went really, really well, so my boss has let me work from home for a couple of days. (Sighs.) Which is great. Actually perfectly timed because I really don't feel like I got a new year's. I just wish everything else wasn't going on at the moment.

I mean, Steve is so caught up in everything... Yeah, I want to know who killed Kate, too, but I just need some time to get my head together and to figure this whole thing out; I need time for me. 2008 will not suck!

I want to make some changes, you know? I have new year's resolutions. I mean, I want to see more of London, more of England, and so... (Sighs.) I'm gonna spend all my savings and buy a car.

(Charlie flips through a brochure for the Toyota Aygo.) Yeah, I-I know. I looked at some payment plans, and all I know so far is this: that I like silver. And I thought maybe I could get something cute like the one that's advertised on T4.

And... The other thing is... this place. You know, I get pretty spooked out being here by myself; especially at night and all. I mean, it's crazy, I know, but... You know, this place isn't haunted. (The doorbell rings.) No, it's not haunted. (Walks to the door taking the camera with her.) But I put an ad in for a roommate. (Sighs.) I leave the camera running; maybe you guys can help me choose.

(Charlie unlocks the door to reveal a young man outside.)

Kyle: Look-

Charlie: Hi!

Kyle: Hi, uh, I'm here about the flat?

Charlie: Um... yeah. Don't mind this, it's- Yeah, c-come in. Come in!

(Kyle walks past Charlie into the main room. Charlie closes the door and follows him, zooming in on his butt.)

Kyle: Nice place.

Charlie: Yeah. (Turns the camera on herself.) Score! Just, um, come in; just take a seat. Just down there. (Kyle removes his jacket and sits on the couch.) Yeah, did it take long to get here?

Kyle: Um... About twenty minutes.

Charlie: Twenty minutes, oh, excellent. Yeah. You're Australian?

Kyle: Uh, yeah.

Charlie: Yeah!

Kyle: Uh, you- You're Australian as well?

Charlie: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm-I'm Charlie.

Kyle: Yeah, we, uh, spoke on the phone?

Charlie: Oh, yeah. Yeah, sorry. Cool. So can you tell me your name again?

Kyle: Uh, Kyle.

Charlie: Oh, Kyle. Oh, like- like Dr. Kyle off Neighbours, right?

Kyle: I guess, uh...

Charlie: Oh, no, no, that's Dr. Karl... Yeah. And, uh, so w-what are you doing here?

Kyle: Uh, I'm here for the ad? Uh... You mean- You mean London.

Charlie: Yeah, yeah.

Kyle: Um, I'm new, I'm just looking for someone to show me the ropes. Um, you know, a fellow Aussie would be good. (Winks.)

Charlie: And do you have any bad habits?

Kyle: Bad habits... Um, I sometimes hog the kitchen. You know, it's a bit of a hobby, the cookery. Um, I'm a bit OCD about the cleaning. And, uh, bit handy with a brush - that's a good thing. Um... I need to stay fit for work, so I work out at home now and again.

Charlie: Oh, you work out at home? S-so you're a model, then!

Kyle: (Laughs.) No.

Charlie: No?

Kyle: Uh, the only pose I can strike is this one. (Strikes an odd-looking pose, making a sawing motion.)

Charlie: Ye-ye- Um...

Kyle: I'm a...carpenter?

Charlie: Oh! (Laughs.) Carpenter! So you spend a lot of time putting things up, then?

Kyle: Yeah. Well, uh, that and, um, helping out with, you know, campaigns; environment, mainly. Um... It's just a spare time thing at the moment, but it's something I really love.

(The doorbell rings.)

Kyle: Oh! Saved by the bell. Um... I'm so sorry. Once I get started, you just can't stop me. Uh...

Charlie: No, that's- That's okay.

(The doorbell rings again.)

Kyle: Uh, I better go. (Gets up.)

Charlie: Oh, no-no-no-no-no! (Gets up.) Don't- don't rush! Um, you- No, don't rush; you can stick around. (Heads toward the door.) Just, um- I'll just figure this out; I'll sort this out first.

(Charlie unlocks the door to reveal Lee.)

Lee: Greetings, roomie!

Charlie: Lee-

Lee: I saw the ad; I couldn't believe it was you! (Starts to come into the apartment.)

Charlie: Lee! No, no!

Lee: Isn't this place-

Charlie: (Cutting off Lee.) The room's taken. Yeah, I know.

Lee: What do you mean it's taken?

Charlie: Really sorry. Hey, thanks for coming! Thanks for coming!

Lee: Uh...

Charlie: (Slams the door in Lee's face.) Bye! (Locks the door.)
