Hey, just wanted to tell you all the work you did on the Theories page is awesome! Nancypants 19:53, 3 December 2007 (CST)

I didn't say anything so far because I didn't find anything that broke because of it, but...why the hell do you always add a leading zero to the episode numbers? What is the practical purpose of that? -_^

[in reply to User talk:Renegade#0xxx]
Well, since your note is lacking in my framework, no wonder I didn't see it. xD (And no, that's not a hint to update it. :P)
The thing is, with a leading zero, the sorting is messed up as well - everything is filed under "0". Episode 10, 256, 320, they're all in section "0" instead of "1", "2" and "3". I do see your point, but, in my opinion, it's easier to find episode 30 by checking a section "3" than to count down 30 in the "0" section...

AGAIN??
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 18:46, 5 December 2007 (CST)
No, I fixed that; I was contemplating changing things to be to the 100th place, but decided against it. The categorization is WAY off now, though. I'm trying to sort by date added, but it's not working too well. - Shiori 18:53, 5 December 2007 (CST)
It's less off than it was before, and it was less off than before you changed it to sorting by date. Before, everything was ordered under "0", now, at least what's starting with 3 is sorted under "3". It sucks that it leads to 3, 3x, 3xx, but it's still better having all 3s under "3" than having no numeral indication at all.
I'm gonna revert that blog change, btw, because 0+order and numbers+slight inorder both make more sense than ordering by seemingly random characters. Not to mention that this ordering doesn't create any more order, because it Orders both September 2006 and September 2007 under "S" - not to mention all the stuff that goes into "J".
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 19:00, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Yeah, I know. Like I said in the change there, it was tentative. Ideally, it would be awesome if we could find someway to sort by date without having the pages categorized under any label at all; maybe year. I don't think that's possible, though, so bah. I mainly only care because it makes finding a person's previous blog a little easier. - Shiori 19:06, 5 December 2007 (CST)
I find it quite easy to find the previous blog simply by looking at the List of videos?
What we could try is do conditional sorting - iow, change the sort key to automatically change the sort key to "1 - {{{number}}}" "10 - {{{number}}}" "100 - {{{number}}}" and so on. That *should* sort them correctly. Actually, scratch that...that would result in the same ordering as now. But please leave the episode numbers alone in the future, it's easier to do such stuff in the template than editing 366 vid pages. ;)
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 19:20, 5 December 2007 (CST)
I think I found why the zeros were there in the first place; I found this on Wikipedia:
"When trying to sort with numbers (e.g. wikipedia:Naming conventions (pieces of music)), don't forget to add an extra zero when more than 9 entries in the category are expected; and a second extra zero when more than 99, etc...: [[Category:Symphonies by Joseph Haydn|Symphony 13]] → [[Category:Symphonies by Joseph Haydn|Symphony 013]] (he wrote 108 symphonies). Categories sort by the first character, so leaving out the preceding zero would cause 10 to be sorted before 2."
I agree that, assuming we wanted to put them back in, it would be WAY better to do it in the template itself. - Shiori 19:29, 5 December 2007 (CST)
That is kind of the reason - the difference is that, in that example, both Symphony 010 and Symphony 002 would correctly be sorted under "S" and then by number - whereas in our case, the sorting "0" is never right in the first place.
I think I just had an idea though...I think I semi-hacked the sort key on another wiki to sort everything under the space character (i.e. no sort key is displayed) - if we combine that with automatically generated zero-padding, it should be sorted correctly. Give me a moment to code this up.
Update: I think it's working - only problem is that non-canon vids are "numbered" JONx, for example - I'll have to add a special case for that. But otherwise, I think it's slowly re-ordering itself to the correct order, with no misleading header.
Update 2: Check Category:Jonas's blogs - as far as I can see, everything is totally and entirely as it should be. The videos look in order, there is no header, and the pre-canon vids are separated. :)
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 19:37, 5 December 2007 (CST)
AWESOME! Should we delete the leading zeros from the KM blogs, too? I'm just wondering for continuity's sake now. - Shiori 20:17, 5 December 2007 (CST)
Well, the same template is used on both, so if KM vids have zeros as well, they'll have to be de-zeroed as well. Don't worry about it, though, I'll have EvilRenegade do it. ;)
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 20:52, 5 December 2007 (CST)
I just ran the bot on the KM vids - that should settle the whole zero-padding issue once and for all. :) I forgot to turn logging on, so there might be one or two vids that fell through because of editing conflicts, but those will be apparent quickly because's sorted wrongly in the categories, and can be fixed manually.
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 10:07, 6 December 2007 (CST)
I've edited Epcode just earlier, so I'm not afraid of it - I'm just not sure what you want changed? If you refer to the fact that the seasonal episode numbers are zero-padded, I did that because a unified format of #x### looks better than stuff like "1x1" does. The difference between "Episode 1", "Episode 10" and "Episode 100" makes no difference to our sense of design and symmetry, but "1x1", "1x10" and "1x100" kind of growing a tale looks a little stupid, imo. "Episode 1/1x001" looks far better than "Episode 1/1x1".
1x1 1x001
1x5 1x005
1x13 1x013
1x52 1x052
1x107 1x107
In the "Episode" part, the leading zeros were useless, 'cause there's no reason to pad the number in what is basically akin to a small sentence - our mind is used to reading "Episode 1", not "Episode 001". But in the episode code, the zeros preserve a unified format, without which the episode code is less readable and looks disorganized.
~ Renegade (talk | contribs) 16:32, 6 December 2007 (CST)

0x:xx

Déjà vu, much? xD
Just wanted to say that things like simple mass replacements, like the removal of leading zeros, can be done much faster and easier by EvilGade. So next time just give me a nudge or something. ;)

KateModern Renumbering

You're right, the videos do need to be renumbered. However, the way I listed them is the correct way.

It's not about me being all knowing; it's about me having spoken to the KateModern production team about how they wanted their series represented on LGPedia.

There are lots of reasons that there can be inconsistancies on the LG15.com numbering and the LGPedia numbering. For instance, First Blog / Dorkiness Prevails is not listed on the lonelygirl15 section of LG15.com which messes up the numbering, however, I think there is no doubt that this is Bree's first blog. Like I said, the way I listed the videos is consistant with the way KM wants their videos listed, so that's what I'm going to go by.

You're welcome to help out with the renumbering if you'd like. --Zoey 13:27, 10 January 2008 (CST)

Hey, it's not about being in contact with the Creators... they're not even the ones who told me this. It's just a matter of trying to accurately portray the series as the KM Prod. team would like.
That being said, I think we should work from the assumption that no recap video should be given an official number if posted from the Sophie account. In general, I think that lines up with what they want. --Zoey 16:53, 11 January 2008 (CST)
That works, although The Story So Far... was uploaded there as well, and should probably be numbered. I was apparently wrong about all of the recaps being posted on the Bebo page, so we'll just use only the recaps listed on the KM Bebo page as the ones that should be numbered. - Shiori 20:01, 11 January 2008 (CST)

Tag spaces

  1. Like I said before, this is the kind of job that the bot can do quickly, easily and flawlessly. There's no need for you to manually go through dozens (or hundreds) of videos if you simply want to replace stuff (and "trait|positive" to "trait positive" is a replacement).
Just ask, and you can save yourself a whole lot of time.
  2. I was actually holding off that very change for quite some time now, on a simple basis - technically, the tag isn't "trait positive" - it' the tags "trait" and "positive". Just like they're using the tags "hymn", "of" and "one", not "hymn of one".
I won't revert it, because, as said, I've been thinking about the same change for quite some time, but I wanted to note that, technically, your change is not correct.

Hey, I saw you added Man on a Mission to the list of videos with product placement for the Toyota Aygo Platinum. I'm having a bit of trouble finding it in that video. Would you mind getting a screenshot to put on the page? Thanks. --Zoey 16:05, 3 February 2008 (CST)

Publicity photo categorization

Hey, didn't see you in chat today, so I'll try it this way...Zoey was thinking about categorizing the publicity pictures, with categories like group shots, etc. iirc, you did the Videos with... categorization a few weeks ago quite neatly, and I was wondering if you'd be up for this task?
To differentiate them from "normal" categories, you'd probably have to go for stuff like "Publicity photos of Daniel" or something similar, or whatever reasonable system you come up with.
How about it?

RE88 BTS Sandbox

The page exists because of the redesign going on with the Redearth88 Portal, it would only make sense to have the new layout carry over to the BTS page (also why I created that page for the Prologue). Shifting the info into a sidebar defeats the purpose of having the page at all. (Also, the reason it looked so plain was because I wasn't done building the page yet, I was planning on adding pictures, more info, etc, to the page.) --FH14 11:55, 10 March 2008 (EST)

KM Cameos

Ahh wait. Please don't add links to the KM Cameos pages for the new actors I listed unless you're actually going to add them to the KM Cameos page. Without the red links, I'll never remember who to add :x --Zoey 08:51, 14 March 2008 (CDT)

I was just going to do that, Zoey, don't get so flustered. :P - Shiori 08:51, 14 March 2008 (CDT)

Hey, Shiori -- where'd you find the larger versions of the Grill photos?? I looked everywhere on their Flickr page, and they were nowhere to be found! Anywho, just wanted to say thanks on finding them (wherever you found them :P) --Pheon 15:53, 16 March 2008 (CDT)

Amazing . . . I'll have to try that next time, thanks for the tip! But where'd you find them on Flickr?? --Pheon 15:58, 16 March 2008 (CDT)
That's just so . . . cool that you can do that! (sorry for the geek out, but I never knew that!) --Pheon 16:05, 16 March 2008 (CDT)

Objection to Deletions

Regarding the addition of references to Userboxes on the 437 and the LG15 Today pages... You were wrong in the first place, shiori, to delete the material without first engaging in a discussion on it's talk page, suggesting such a removal and offering reasons why or suggesting alternatives so that it might be discussed, and have subbornly continued this unproductive approach with repeated deletions and threats, escalating rather than resolving conflict. ~ QtheC 08:25, 19 March 2008 (CDT)

Yeah, see, who's going to block me? You were the one that was flying the face of SOP and general consensus. Adding the vandal template doesn't do much if you can't back it up. - Shiori 08:54, 19 March 2008 (CDT)
As a fellow user of this LGPedia, I'm not sure why you are assuming you have some special status here. I have restored the vandalism tag that you improperly deleted. As the vandal in question, you really should not be the one to decide to remove it. The specific text of the vandal tag is not something I control, so interpret it generally. Clearly, your words, actions and behavior contradict the impartial/correct approach you claim elsewhere. Your disrepsectful treatment of the additions I made in good spirit are not, in any reasonable sense "standard operating procedure" - you may have convinced others temporarily that you were behaving reasonably, but actually, you were just deleting repeatedly without a clear reason or bothering to discuss and reach concensus first. It's my view that you have overstepped your bounds, but I realize I am probably dealing with someone that is not interested in listening or learning from their mistakes, so perhaps I should leave it there, and encourage you to focus on your positive contributions to the LGPedia. Perhaps the restoration of this tag on your user talk page will serve as reminder to try to be more careful in how you deal with the contributions of others in the future. ~ QtheC 13:46, 20 March 2008 (CDT)
Okay, that was a bit over the top. Sorry for taking it so far. Tell you what, I'm re-removing your 'vandal' tag here, and if you want to reciprocate, you are welcome to remove the 'vandal' tag you placed on my user page... they are both a little silly in what has been a dispute over content editing... right? ~ QtheC 16:29, 20 March 2008 (CDT)

Did too.

But it's looking OK, we can leave it like that.

New Quote template issues

It was the same fix I already did on Template:Person. It was a problem with the sidebar's floating, not with the way the quote template is designed. Add position: relative; top: 0px; left: 0px; z-index: 10; wherever the need arises.

The Family Phillips

Hey, um... maybe my editing note never showed up on the page, but I started writing the transcript for the Family Phillips not long ago and just finished up, only to see that you've done it all. I worked on it during time I could've been sleeping, so I just wanted to let you know. xD Just wondering, was there a note on the page saying that I was working on the transcript? If not, maybe I just didn't save the changes...

Oh, okay then. Stupid of me. x_x It's okay, I guess, since I had a 3 hour nap earlier. haha. Good job on the transcript, though! Some of the slang Antony was using went completely over my head. Xo vanessa anne 22:10, 11 June 2008 (CDT)

Delete page

Hi. Just wanted to ask if you could somehow mark this page for deletion or delete it because it's a duplicate of I Have A Confession but with a lowercase "A" which isn't correct. I would do it but I don't know how. Thanks. Foreigncandle

I redirected the page to the correct one. For future reference, use {{delete}} to mark a page for deletion, but in a lot of cases, it just makes sense to redirect.--Jonpro 17:04, 27 June 2008 (CDT)

LGPedia Width

Hey Shiori. I don't know if this affects you or you have heard about it but LGPedia width is a considerably thinner than it used to be. Myself and a couple of others briefly discussed this. I queried this in the new forums and from what was said it has been given a fixed width in order to fit into the rest of the new sites design. Here is a screenshot of what I looks like on my screen, It could be because I have a widescreen monitor and because the page has a fixed width it doesn't automatically adjust to your browser size like it does normally. --KindredPhantom 07:00, 19 September 2008 (CDT)

Help!

I think I broke Template:Blog when I tried to add N1ckola to the equation. I know you added LG15: The Resistance to the Template, so I was wondering if you could help me add N1ckola, LG15: The Misfits, and LG15: The Last to the Template correctly... --FH14 14:05, 27 January 2008 (EST)

The Misfits

The logic behind using the Official Template was because it was basically a video that would have become canon but didn't, due to an abandoned storyline (i.e. Slide Tackle) -- FH14 19:21, 18 February 2009 (EST)

Template:FlockCharIndex

I attempted to make this like the other templates we've been remodeling, but because of the other aspects such as season, I kind of failed. Since you obviously can do that based on your Maddison Character Index and Redearth88 Character Index and OpAphid Character Index you just did, could you possibly revert my edits, use the original Flock colors and make it like it was before, but with the newer sidecolumns/divider thingy. You know what I mean. :) Kevin 20:59, 19 February 2009 (CST)

Community Content

If you want to start tagging shows for deletion that aren't LG15-related, I'm done with moving around revamping pages (for the most part), so you can do that now. P.S. I'd suggest either tagging things and writing up one hell of a speech to go on LG15 Today about it, or just deleting them outright, and pointing the reasoning to the Welcome note on the main page. You know there's going to be a giant shit storm no matter what you do. - Shiori 12:13, 9 April 2009 (CDT)

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I've been sick. I'm going to start tagging the pages tomorrow when the medicine I took really kicks in. Until then, I'm going to try to crank out some transcripts that need completing, since it doesn't require much brainpower. --FH14 18:54, 10 April 2009 (EST)
