Transcript

Gemma: Hi Bree. I remember OPAPHID. It's something I remember when I was in the South African community. It's an acronym, right? When we met people who didn't understand us, we would "Acknowledge their Position and Help Initiate a Dialogue". Anyway, I can completely relate to what you're saying about awkward silences. (There is a picture of her with no sound.) My flatmate and I are barely speaking to each other. Part of it stems from her inability to load a dishwasher. Who puts the bowls where the plates are supposed to go? It boggles my mind! We had it out the other night; she accused me of being too particular of how I do things. I'm sorry if I don't like my peas touching my chips, but it's just that they'll turn into a soggy mess. Yeah, it's to the point of where we are watching TV together, and I don't want to see Little Britain for the 100th time. So I literally have to pry the controller from her hands. And she'll come over and try and take it from me! It's just no sense of propriety. The good news is that I don't have to listen to her impression of Vicky Pollard anymore. Ugh. See Bree, there are worse things than silence. Unlike my flatmate, Daniel's not a lost cause. You've been through so much together. Now you should make up, go outside, and get some fresh air. You've been cooped up in that motel room for far too long.

Notes

  • The title of this video is a play off of Daniel's last video.
  • According to Wikipedia, "Vicky Pollard is a fictional character from the BBC TV and radio show Little Britain played by Matt Lucas. Her catchphrases include "Yeah but no but yeah but no but...," "Oh my god! I soooo can't believe you just said that!", "Shut up! I ain't even dun nuffin or nuffin!" and "Don't go giving me evils!'""
  • This explanation for what APHID means does not come from the OpAphid Alternate Reality Game.
