Chapter 7: Tricks and Treats is the thirty-eighth blog in the LG15: The Resistance blog series. It is also the video for the seventh chapter in the series.

Transcript

Voice: The fountain of youth is real, and it's in the blood of dozens of girls across the world. Their secret is known by few, yet desired by all. They are pawns in the most dangerous of games. We are the Resistance. Our mission is to find these girls, and protect them from those who want to use them, and destroy them. And we document what happens to them, so that their stories live on. This is the story of one of those girls. We are the Resistance. We will not be stopped.

(Static effect to a picture of the LG15: The Resistance logo. Static effect to a clip of Maggie and a nurse in her room. The nurse is strapping Maggie to her bed and examining her with medical equipment. Among the equipment is a Strandbox.)

Maggie: And so it began, again. The princess strapped to her chair; her punishment from a chance at freedom. The price she pays daily. The trust is gone. The kindness is no more. She is treated no better than an animal...but even animals fight back.

(Static effect to Exposed!. In the bottom right are the words "Monday; October 27, 2008; Hymn of None". Static effect back to Maggie in her room surrounded by two nurses. One of them is injecting Maggie with needles.)

Maggie: Animals do fight back, unless you've broken the animal's spirit so utterly, so completely that it merely waits to die.

(Static effect to Secret Sauce. In the bottom right are the words "Wednesday; October 29, 2008; Sarah". Static effect to Maggie and the two nurses back in her room. One is taking the Strandbox off of her arm. An orderly comes and lifts her off of her bed. He puts her into a wheelchair.)

Maggie: Sometimes, though, people will surprise you. Sometimes, in the bleakest, most hopeless of situations, there's a little bit of light that shines into your ivory tower. Free of those who walk free.

(Static effect to Boo!. In the bottom right are the words "Friday; October 31, 2008; ReedABook". Static effect to the orderly wheeling Maggie throughout the halls of Old LifesBlood Labs, and back to her room. The orderly lifts her out of the wheelchair and onto her bed. Eventually, Maggie gets up and does push-ups.)

Maggie: But you see, the princess was never quite what she seemed. They thought of her as a wounded animal, but she wasn't. That tiny bit of light; that tiny bit of hope that one day, she too could be free. It gave her strength, energy, resilience. If you plant a tree behind a fence, it'll grow between the slats just to reach the sun's warm embrace. That plant will grow stronger, and taller. And eventually, just from that little bit of light, it'll tear that fence down. The princess stopped being a princess that day; when they dragged her back into her room. Instead, she became a warrior.
