Rachel's parents both died in a car crash when she was nine years old. She was in the car with them when it happened. She doesn't really remember much of it, but from everything she's read she is lucky to be alive.

Because of her parents' untimely death, Rachel grew up in East Texas with her grandparents. However, she doesn't like to talk about it, because she believes that it is one of those things that causes people to treat her differently.
