Plot Background

Gemma (username Gemmers19) is a friend of Bree's from when she lived in Nottinghamshire. Bree was particularly good friends with Gemma's dog, as revealed in Mysteries of My Past... REVEALED!. Since Bree was 12 at the time, and Gemma 15, it is not surprising that they would not be in the same peer group.

Gemma said that her parents are members of Bree's religion and this forced her to move to London.

Gemma's mother and Bree's mother met in college, after Bree's mother became angry in a discussion revolving around the philosopher David Hume. She also taught Bree a game called Nut Kills Man, a fictional variation on "Rock, Paper, Scissors."

Gemma has made several videos talking about her life in London. Fans speculate that Gemma's monologues about her life in London are coded commentary/advice for Bree's situation. She has given Bree advice about her situation toward the religion. Gemma has said it's hard for her to live away from the community.

In Learning Egyptian, Gemma claims that Bree's religion is not a Thelemic religion at all but a Secret Society called The Order.

The videos supposedly show Gemma's flat.

Revelations of Order Involvement

In a series of videos released as part of the OpAphid Alternate Reality Game it was revealed that Gemma was interacting with Lucy and therefore is likely affiliated with The Order. In the video Tough Cookie this footage is shown again and Jonas seems to confirm that it is real. It also proves she does not live in London, nor England.

UPDATE: [If Gemma was working with the order all along, it is likely that her advice for Bree to go home was a trap. However, it has been speculated that at some point between Gemma's "Scared to go Home" video and her next video, The Order somehow got to her and forced her to do their bidding. This is because many people noted a sudden change in Gemma after the live chat.]

While the above paragraph seemed a reasonable possibility, a recent video posted by Tachyon shows that the location of "Scared to go Home" is indeed in southern California, palm trees and all. Obviously, Gemma was already deceiving Bree... and it would appear from the portion of the phone conversation recorded in this video that she has been working with the Order all along... if indeed we can trust her explanation that it IS the Order. All information originating from Gemma is clearly suspect now, which means that Bree's "religion" could be something originating from Thelema, Denderah or the Illuminati.

It will be interesting to see whether Gemma post's a video defending or explaining her actions, as the video posted by Tachyon is very damaging to her credibility.

Etymology

The English name Gemma comes from the Italian name Gemma, which derives from Latin gemma, meaning "jewel."

Gemma is also one of two names for the star Alpha Coronae Borealis (also known as Alphecca). Its name Gemma derives from the star's central placement in the constellation Corona Borealis (the Northern Crown). This connection raises possible links to Bree's fascination with astronomy and to the connections between Bree's religion and astrology (see Denderah).
