The Shadows are members of the Order who serve as bodyguards for the Elders.

Description

According to Alex, Shadow members are physically augmented by a variety of pharmaceuticals; modafinil, anabolic steroids, and amphetamines. They don't need to sleep and they're stronger and faster than the average person. Because of this they cannot live past the age of 30. Shadow members can be distinguished from other people by the omicron tattoo on their forearm. In the center of the omicron lies an upside down tau.

Las Vegas

Even though they primarily serve as bodyguards to the Elders, this branch of the Order was also responsible for the capture of Bree, Daniel, and Jonas during their travels in Las Vegas, Nevada, in late March 2007.

As revealed much later in My Fatal Mistake, the Shadow that captured BDJ was not actually a part of the Order, but worked for a Rogue Elder, who does not follow the precepts of the Order. This explains why it was a Watcher who rescued BDJ and eliminated the Rogue Shadow.

Role in Bree's Death

In hour 8 of the 12 in 12 lonelygirl15 Season One Finale, a Shadow stabs Jonas in the stomach, before being stabbed by Daniel. However, the Shadow seems to have been okay, as he was later seen carrying Bree's lifeless body away from the operating table after she completed the Ceremony.

LaRezisto

According to Virgil in My Fatal Mistake, "LaRezisto" is actually a codename for the rogue Elder who had BDJ captured in Las Vegas. The Watcher identifies Claire as a "LaRezisto Shadow."

Porter's Shadow

The Shadow of Elder Dr. William Porter was first seen during Emma's escape and later running after Dr. Calvin Hart. After Porter's death, the Shadow was seen watching the TAAG outside of the cabin at Big Bear Lake. He has since released a video, revealing that he has seen the TAAG's videos, and has every intention of avenging his Elder's death. He finally tracked TAAG down, only to get run over by a car and die.

Terrence

Terrence was revealed to be in training to become a Shadow in Precious Blood: 5PM.

Notes

• An alternative name for the Shadows, as proposed by Glenn Rubenstein, was "sheut-ka" - (sheut = shadow, ka = life force). [1]
