Hangman’s Noose is the five-hundred first video in the lonelygirl15 video series. It is also the ninety-first video of season three. This video is correctly called "Hangman’s Noose", with a punctuation apostrophe (right single quotation mark) instead of a typewriter apostrophe - it resides here for easier accessibility.

Transcript

Daniel: It's been a really tough week for everybody. We all miss our friend. Jonas can't even bring himself to sit in front of a camera. You know what? I don't really blame him. But at least we have Jennie who took matters into her own hands, to help us get back at that murderous son of a bitch. You know, I want to thank Evergreen for helping us figure out those documents and for alerting the authorities. Most of you probably didn't see this, because it ran on the local news, but I recorded it for you. Oh, and you might recognize somebody from our past.

(scene cuts to news story. "Breaking News," "8," and "Beth Turner" are shown.)

Beth: We're standing in front of the home (turns to look at home and back at camera) of Los Angeles City Councilman, Edward Salinas. Salinas rose to prominence during his recent run for United States Congress. (looks down, as if reading) His populist agenda was invigorating the community and seemed a lock to win the election. However, his campaign was derailed yesterday when a video (clips from Evergreen Saves the Day) appeared on the internet, revealing that Salinas had been embezzling money from his own campaign.

Beth: FBI and local authorities arrived here this morning to bring Salinas in for questioning. When they entered the home, they found Salinas' body (turns to garage and back) in the garage, dead as a result of an apparent suicide. Police are looking for this man, (image of Carl, captioned "Carl Adams") Carl Adams, as a person of interest in this case. Adams is the president of Sacred Spirit and believed to be deeply involved in the campaign scandal.

Beth: (front door of house opens and Lucy walks away) This is a tragic end to a very promising political career. Many believed Salinas would rise to prominence in the party, and ultimately ascend to higher office. Salinas is survived by his wife and two children. This is Beth Turner with Channel 8 News.

(cuts back to Daniel)

Daniel: Looks like Beth got a promotion. Oh, and yeah, I recognize that other person from the video too. I have my doubts about that whole suicide thing. But, hey, in the end, at least Salinas got what he deserved. I guess the Order doesn't really like to take chances. Oh, and one more thing. Jonas and I picked up a little something to celebrate. Check it out.

(shows Carl unconscious, tied to a chair with his mouth duct-taped)

Notes

  • The title "Hangman's Noose" can sometimes mean "torturer."
  • The name "Beth Turner" was a character on the now cancelled CBS Drama, "Moonlight". On that show, the character also played a reporter.
  • The police woman exiting the house during the news segment looks like Lucy dressed in a police uniform, her favourite sunglasses with her hair tied up.
