Transcript

Crystal: Well, that's a way to start off the new year. I come home from the bookstore last week, and I get into my apartment to find this. (Photographs of Crystal's ransacked apartment appear onscreen) I. Got. Jacked. Turns out that someone decided to pull a B&E in the middle of the blizzard and spent the entire afternoon noodling through my stuff. So much for neighborhood security. I guess its not as bad as it looks. I mean, the guy didn't even decide to take anything. All he did was tear stuff up and bust open a window. I mean, I don't really get it. My laptop's still here. TV - still here. My bank account info - still here. I even left a twenty dollar bill on the counter and its still here. They're good enough to break into my apartment, but they didn't have the guts to actually steal anything. What's the deal? After the police showed up, they just took their pictures and said that there was nothing that they could do. They checked the security camera feeds and, wouldn't you guess it, there was a technical problem with the new system, and they didn't get a video of the guy. Looks like I'm out of luck. This really isn't how I wanted things to wind up. (Quick musical montage of Crystal on her laptop, then sketching on a pad. Cut to Crystal holding up the camera.) The worst part of it all is the window. Since this town has decided to become Antarctica in a day, I can't hang out at my place until either my window is boarded up or fixed. So, I went to the only person who offered to help.

(Crystal turns the camera to show Will in the doorway holding a paper bag.)

Will: Hey, uh, sorry, am I interrupting?

Crystal: Nope, just finishing up.

Will: I stopped and got some food. (digs in the bag) Um, would you like a hamburger? (Holds out wrapped burger.) It might help take your mind off things.

Crystal: Uh, sure.

Will: (putting the burger on the table in front of her.) Here you go. (Walks away.)
