Transcript

(Still shot of Nikki at the Hymn of One seminar location drifts across the screen. Cuts to Nikki standing in the same position in real-time.)

Nikki: Hello, is it me you're looking for?

(She smells a bright pink rose)

Nikki: Every rose has its thorn. You with the sad eyes. I think we're alone now. The sound of silence. She's like the wind.

(Cuts to Nikki playing a recorder poorly.)

Nikki: Music can be such a revelation.

(Cuts to Nikki dancing down a set of brick stairs.)

Nikki: Everybody knows a place like Kokomo. Nobody on the road. It's just another day in paradise.

(Nikki spins in circles.)

Nikki: Keepin' the faith. Knock me down, it's all in vain. I wanna be the one to walk in the sun. Blame it on the stars that did shine at night. I want to free fall out into nothing.

(Nikki skips down a brick road. Cuts to a baby in a stroller and two children being rolled in a wagon. Cuts to two men walking in white dress shirts and black pants. Cuts to a man in a Watcher uniform walking up a set of stairs. Cuts to Nikki smelling the rose. Cuts to Nikki standing in front of a podium.)

Nikki: Makes you wonder how the other half lives. Under pressure. Now, I gotta cut loose

(Nikki plays a kazoo.)

Nikki: Don't stop believin'. Even in your thoughts. Rhythm is gonna getcha.

(Cuts to Nikki meditating.)

Nikki: Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? Out of the sky, I close my eyes. Voices carry... Everybody, have fun tonight. Rebel yell.

(Nikki sways back and forth while playing an instrument. The words "The Hymn of One is FUN!" appear on screen.)

Notes

  • The first letters of the selected lyrics can be put together to make the following hidden message: "HEY IT'S ME NIKKI B I'M UNDERCOVER."
  • Almost all of the lines Nikki says are direct quotes from popular 1980's songs. Exceptions are the lines from "The Sound of Silence," which was released in 1965, and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" -- from which comes the quote "Knock me down, it's all in vain" -- that, although popular in 1980, was actually recorded and released in 1979. "I Think We're Alone Now," while originally released in 1967 by Tommy James & the Shondells, was covered by Tiffany in 1987 (becoming a Number 1 hit).
  • On the kazoo, Nikki plays part of the refrain of "Footloose."
  • This was shot in UCLA's Dickson Plaza. The white folding chairs are set up for a commencement ceremony.
