Glenn Rubenstein filmography |
Glenn Rubenstein has written, directed, and edited many videos in the lonelygirl15 video series. He is also the creator of both OpAphid and Redearth88.
Glenn first became involved in the LG15 Universe when he participated as a fan in cassieiswatching. He soon began posting videos as OpAphid, basing this Alternate Reality Game on a screenplay called "Red Earth" he had previously written. Through this series, he created the characters of OpAphid, Tachyon, and Brother, as well as honed his skills writing, directing, editing, and producing all of the videos.
His work soon caught the eye of the Creators, who responded to an in-character message he wrote to Gemma as OpAphid with an out-of-character reply expressing interest in pursuing a collaboration. Glenn began working on lonelygirl15 with the video Bree Phone Home.
During his time with the show, Glenn wrote, edited, and directed a number of lonelygirl15 videos, introduced the show's interactive component, and created characters such as Alex, Sarah, and Taylor/Molly. In Spring 2007, Glenn and the Creators parted ways. He has since pursued his own webshow, Redearth88, which exists in a "shared universe" with Jeromy Barber's Maddison Atkins series.
Currently, Glenn DJs on BreeFM every Wednesday night at 8pm PST.
Music
Glenn, who plays the guitar/base and keyboard, fronted the rap-pop-rock group Headboard from 1995-2002 and has used his musical talents to compose songs for his videos. He wrote/recorded "What Time Is It?" and remixed it for use as the Tachyon theme song. He also composed all of the music heard in the Redearth88 series, notably "Rachel's theme." He now has about 10-15 original songs that he has used in videos.
He also composed and produced the opening theme music for Yousef Abu-Taleb's radio show F.O.B. Life, which features Mari Devincenzi (the voice of OpAphid) on the show's introduction.
