Interview with XO is the thirty-seventh video in the Maddison Atkins video series. It is also the first video of chapter three.
Transcript
(Clara is conducting a telephone interview with XO. The video clip is of her driving. It is sped up, then stopped numerous times.)
Text in Lower Right Hand Corner: Video: April 26th, 2007
(Cut to clips of XO and his friends inside and outside of a bar. Cut to XO driving. Cut to a sign that reads: "XO. MOUTH PIECE OF THE SOUTH 2. DJ CONTACT. TONITE." For the rest of the video, clips of XO's show is shown.)
Clara: Okay, Hi, I'm Clara. Hi, XO.
XO: Whassup, whassup, you alright?
Clara: Yeah how are you?
XO: I'm good, I'm good, I'm in Las Vegas with the Pretenders.
Clara: Okay, well, I spoke with Adam Lamar awhile back, and he was telling me about the show on April 26th?
XO: Yeah, right right.
Clara: And I was just wondering if you could tell me more about what happened.
XO: What happened, what do you mean?
Clara: I heard about the ten girls that got found with needle marks in their arms, you know, date rape, everything.
XO: Yeah, okay, okay. First off, first off I gotta clear some stuff up real quick. You know what I'm sayin'? Me and my crew, you know, the whole Mouthpieces of the South. First off, we are against this whole date rape thing that they're claiming went on, you know what I'm sayin'?
And Adam's my dawg, you know that, but Adam is a writer for a paper, and people like that tend to blow stuff out of proportion, you know what I mean? It was really only six girls, it wasn't ten girls, you know what I mean.
So, ten and six is a big difference when your talking of something to that extent. You know what I'm sayin', so, but no. I mean, people are claiming that we got run out of town over it.
Honest and truthfully, my movin' out of town was completely planned, you know what I mean? That was my farewell.
Album release, I had the brand new mix tape "Grind-A-Holic" coming out, was gonna do the show, you know, to spread the news and say peace to East Texas, you know, and try to go and do bigger and better things.
To say it was ten girls and, you know, to blow it all out of proportion; we got run outta town over it is, to tell the truth, is kinda crazy, I mean.
Clara: Right, right. Well, XO, do you know what happened with those girls?
XO: Well, from my understanding and everything, it is; they got slipped somethin'. You know, and it was some kind of date rape drug, or whatever. And they don't remember anything.
You know, from the club. All they know is when they woke up, they had, like, needle marks and stuff in their arms. You know, it's a bad situation. I hate that it happened.
I definitely hate that it had to happen at one of MY shows, but my show is not... any time it happens to anybody is not good. But I keep in touch with them.
I actually covered all the costs for their blood tests and everything. To make sure everything was cool, and they weren't infected with anything crazy or nothing like that.
You know, I try to keep in contact with 'em and let 'em know that I'm here for people who need help for something like that; in this type of situation. You know what I mean?
Clara: Right. Well, thank you, XO, for the interview. Do you have anything else that you want to add to it? You have really cleared up alot of things. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
XO: Well, from what I'm hearing, I'm glad to get some stuff cleared up with ya, and get alot of bad stuff clear. Really, that's about it. Me and my (XO says something inaudible.) are here in Vegas.
I want to let the people of SFA and I hope all the people in East Texas know that we still reppin' East Texas, and we still from Nacogdoches.
And shout out to my boy, Adam. Even though he got that stuff blown out of proportion. It's all good. My man, (inaudible) and everybody out there tryin' to do it. Everybody's workin' hard. It is what it is.
Clara: Thank you very much, XO. I appreciate you taking the time out to talk with me.
XO: Yeah, no problem. You need anything else, just feel free to give me a holla'.
Clara: Alright, thank you.
