Chapter One

Summary
Chapter one of Maddison Atkins follows the story of a young girl named Maddison and her friend Adam. Once normal college students, their lives drastically change after they recieve a mysterious note from a man named Mr. Zipp, via a pigeon called HTMLvis. Mr. Zipp writes to Maddison, asking her to please help expose a mysterious organization which "impose[s] severe restrictions on [his] interactions with [his] only child." Maddison joins the online community, who help her solve puzzles left all over the country, to reveal the secrets of said organization. However, Maddison soon realizes that she's not safe, and runs away. Unfortunatly, the organization catches up with her and kills both her and Adam.

Summary
Chapter two of Maddison Atkins follows a lazy film student named Clara Stokes as she attempts to complete her thesis on the deaths of Maddison and Adam. She arranges meetings with many people involved in investigation of the deaths, as well as people involved in the events leading up to the deaths themselves. She soon finds herself in over her head, once she finds the accused murderer dead. Clara quickly became withdrawn and did not want to help solve Maddison's murders anymore, saying that she was having nightmares. She began downing her sorrows in alcohol. Maddison's father, Gregory Atkins offered Clara money to continue her project, but thus far, his offer has not enticed her. An online friend of Clara's, Marla Singer, even tried to visit her and help her move forward, but did not have any luck.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, a young girl named Rachel received a film assignment from her professor, and began putting together video diaries chronologizing her life. She talked about her ex-boyfriend Jordan and her worries about an STD test. Elsewhere, a young man named Linc received instructions to protect Rachel. The two met and went on a date, but Rachel quickly became mad when she found out Linc's intentions were to protect her, not to date her. She dumped Linc, and went ahead and got her STD test. However, things did not go well there, and Linc ended up having to rescue Rachel from a mysterious doctor. Rachel and Linc went on the run before being kidnapped by OpAphid.
